Other option could be to allow the user to use a single¢ral MIDI FX plugin in lieu of the internal keyboard.

about particular scales:
easier way – the more scales, the better!
advanced way – having the ability to define custom scales (up to 8 notes) would be cool.
PS. i need Phrygian Dominant, Dorian #4 (a.k.a. Ukrainian Dorian a.k.a. Romanian minor), and both Double harmonic minor (a.k.a. Gypsy) and major.
